About Huntmusic Editions

The chance purchase of a recording of Peter Philips’ sacred music sparked Janet Hunt’s interest in the little-known genre of sacred motets for solo voices and continuo. While transcribing Philips’ massive Paradisus Sacris Cantionibus (1628), she became aware of the works of Giacomo Finetti, and through those the prints of several of his Italian contemporaries. The result is a series of modern editions of well-crafted motets which can be performed by a small ensemble for almost any liturgical observance as well as in a concert setting.

Printed on sturdy paper and spiral bound to lie flat on a music rack, each edition contains translations of the Latin texts and suggestions for liturgical use. Purchasers of one copy are granted permission to make copies necessary for performance as long as the copies remain in their possession and control.
